My husband, David, had the priveledge of building a house for David, Paula, and three little girls almost 20 years ago. David kept carrying on about what great people they were and that we should visit their church sometime…..Bellevue Community Church. Three years later, when we moved from Franklin to Bellevue, we did just that. With about 150 other people we worshipped for the first time at BCC in a middle school gym. We knew at that moment, after hearing Dave preach, that we were home. David and I dug in and helped out with Dave’s vision of Hope Park. We attended marriage seminars that Dave and Paula hosted. After being at BCC for 10 years, two children later, and a move across town, we found another church 7 years ago. Dave & Paula Foster showed us what it means to be passionate for Christ and how to have a Godly marriage. Our Pastor said today, “It is not the length of your life, but the depth of your life.” We all know that David Foster LOVED & LIVED deeply!! We thank you for all of the wonderful memories and for always steering us to our Lord and Savior.

I got on the internet this morning to get my weekly dose of David Foster and I can’t believe he’s gone . I am a 45 year old grown man and I am crying. I first found David on the internet about a year ago and ordered his Renegade book. I thought I was the only one who was fed up with church as usual, and was so excited to find someone who felt the same way. He has kept me going spiritually for the last year and he will be greatly missed. There has been a huge void created here on earth and yet a huge void filled in heaven! Paula, I can not express to you how much David poured into my life from 400 miles away! My sympathies to you and your family. Trust God in the days ahead and look to Him for guidance. Love in Christ, Todd

David has been my pastor for 11 years and I will miss him terribly. He baptised me and for that I am forever grateful. Thank you for posting this.

Dr. Foster has meant a great deal to us. My family has been attending The Gathering for just over one year. Every message that I heard from Dr. Foster was perfect for me. It seemed as GOD was speaking to me. I am saddened that our time with Dr. Foster was so brief. If all preachers were like Dr. Foster I would have never left church years ago. Dr. Foster was so inspirational. Ye GOD for Dr. Foster. Thank you so much. My dearest sympathies to the Foster Family.
Sincerely,
James Merrell

You changed my life 14 yrs ago and things will not be the same without you. We are shocked and deeply saddened by your passing – but we know that you went exactly the way that you wanted to go. We love you and your beautiful family. They are all a blessing to us.

Although I did not know David Foster well, I did attend the Gathering with family on several occasions. His messages, and I call them messages rather than sermons, because I felt like he was talking to me rather than preaching at me, always left me with a good feeling.
My heart goes out to his lovely wife, Paula, and the rest of his family. David Foster was taken far too soon, and the reason is not ours to know…but he is where he has strived to be…sitting at the right hand of his Father. God Bless David Foster as he has blessed us here on this earth.

I did not know Dr. Foster or the family personally. I was just an anoymous church-goer from BCC and on to The Gathering, where my baby girl was dedicated. Our family recently moved to Iowa, and I heard the news via text message. Immediately, my heart went out to Paula and the family. In that moment, I recalled one of my favorite times hearing Dr. Foster speak. It was the Sunday morning service after the Music City Marathon. I, like his wife, had run. I listened to Dr. Foster just gush about Paula and how proud he was of her. He went on about what an accomplishment it was to cross the finish line. With his chest puffed up, he said, “That’s my wife.” I remember thinking, what a lucky woman to have a man that absolutely adores her and isn’t afraid to tell the world. And what a lucky man to have such a strong and faithful wife. Thank you, David and Paula, for being such a wonderful example for all of us.

The services this past week would have made Pastor Dave say, Ya God! I personally want to thank Dave Seldon for the wonderful Blog Website that will be with us forever, the caring and understanding to read and post every blog and comment. Also, to Glenn Meadows for seeing the need to create a living memory of David with the Memorial service video. Their creativity and talents are seen each day at The Gathering.

We went to Easter service not knowing that he’d gone home. God has a purpose for taking him so soon, but I’m missing him badly already. There is so much more I need to learn from him. I want to think it was like when God took Enoch up, because He took Pastor Dave in his sleep. I will always remember Pastor Dave saying something and halfway expecting some agrrement form the congregation, then turning around and saying something like, “That was really good, Dave. You should write that down and use it in the second service.” I can only hope that when I’m gone 1% of everyone that has talked to me could say I was 1% of the man David is. Paula, I’m so sorry you had to lose him so soon. Anyone who ever listened to him knows that he’s telling Jesus how much he loves you and “his girls” right now. God bless you all.

I went to BCC for years when living in Nashville. David Foster preached SO many incredible lessons and taught us, and helped us grow. It was the perfect home especially for us Rock and Rolling musicians who still love Christ.
I once wrote him a note in a follow up to his series “Why can’t I be happy?” He read the entire letter before the congregation. I wish I could tell him now, “Dr. David, I AM happy now…and you have NO idea how YOU helped so many of us change our lives, change our thinking, you loved us until we would love ourselves” Thank you for everything you did for all of us. Rest in Peace in glorious heaven.
