Helping in the Early Days at BCC

by Bryan Pettus on April 4, 2012

My brother while working at BCC in the mid-1990s helped me get back to church after a long time away. I quickly began to volunteer a lot of time to the development of this incredible way of worshiping our Lord and Savior.

One Sunday, back-stage with David, I began talking about the number of speaking engagements he was doing in addition to the Sunday activities. He told me that he wasn’t sure how he was going to keep it up, because his throat was always sore. I shared with him what I had heard one of my Sports Radio heroes, John Ward, did during football games. After each quarter of play John Ward would brush his teeth and gargle w/ mouthwash.

Years later I ran into Paula at an Easter Service at Hope Park, I think. She told me that she wanted to thank me for telling David about that, because it helped him so much.

I was always moved spiritually by the words God so eloquently placed into David’s mind. He was a true inspiration for me during a really tough time of my life.
